Happy Mother'southward Day

FUMC Ladies' Tea, May 11, 2014

Welcome (Our pastor welcomed the Ladies.)

Ms. Nancy: Happy Mother'south Day! And now for a fiddling history: Mother's Day began in a Methodist Church building in Grafton, West Virginia. Anna M. Jarvis wanted to do something special in honor of her belatedly mother, Anna R. Jarvis, who had taught Sun School for over 20 years. The ladies who attended the beginning Mother's Mean solar day Celebrations in that church and a church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, received white carnations. White carnations are nonetheless used today to honor Mothers who have passed away, with cherry-red carnations to honor Mothers who are living. West Virginia became the first state to officially recognize Mother'southward Day, and President Woodrow Wilson signed the beak making the second Sunday in May the national Mother's 24-hour interval in 1914. That's been 100 years!!

Ms. Nancy:  Moms, accept you ever felt like you have lost your marbles? I know I have! You may have noticed the beautiful table arrangements have marbles in the bottom of the container. That's no blow. Nosotros all experience like we have lost our marbles now and and then. At present (child'southward name) _____ will read a poem called "The Marble Story".

A friend of mine once said to me, this marble is for you lot.
Crusade I was sure I had lost all of mine, when life became and then blue.
For now I know despite the odds, my marbles may be few.
But this friend of mine reminded me, life can be wonderful, too.
So hither'due south a marble just for you, and simply for some fun.
So when you recall you've "lost your marbles", you know you have at least one.

The poem was printed on tag board.
Marbles were glued to
"The Marble Story" cards with E6000 glue.
Beautiful table arrangements were daisies
with marbles in fishbowls.

(At the cease of the poem, the kids pass out"The Marble Story" poems with marble attached.)

Open them; shut them. Open them; close them.
Put them in your lap.

That is so thoughtful, Bonkers.

(The last line can exist washed in unison.)

Then everybody would be happy, and things would exist just fine.
She makes a repast in a minute, and does the laundry, too.
That's why nosotros wanna wish you, Happy Mother's 24-hour interval.

She wakes me up in the morn, cheerful every bit tin can be.

The just time she's grumpy, is earlier java.
She can make a cut better, with nothing but a buss.
That's why we wanna wish you, Happy Mother'due south Day.

She's a friend when I need one, she is always there.

Her hugs make me experience safe, when I've had a scare.
I know I don't always say it, simply it is ever true.

Ms. Nancy: Thanks, kids, that was great. And now, who likes to go to ballgames? Practise you like to yell and cheer for your team? Okay, let's give a cheer for the moms! I have these colorful messages that spell mother.
